Aurizon Port Services’ Gladstone operations have taken a significant step forward in safety and efficiency by introducing the TEC Container BA-350E Electric Spreader and a Roborigger ARM1500-50 to their container handling fleet. The BA-350E, connected to a Roborigger ARM 1500-50 (which can turn the container 360-degree by remote control), delivers faster and safer container lifting while reducing manual intervention on the ground.
A standout feature of the BA-350E is its Auto-Lock function. Once all four landing pins are fully inserted, the twistlocks automatically secure the container, minimising risk and streamlining operations. This innovative feature enhances workplace safety by reducing human error and ensuring containers are locked in place before lifting. Roborigger’s on board crane camera system streams real-time video into the crane cabin, allowing the operator to land the BA-350E spreader on the container.
The combination of these two innovative products results in the complete elimination of personnel in the danger zone when lifting operations are under way.

The Roborigger ARM1500-50 is a robotic crane attachment that allows for the control of loads up to 50 tonnes using a remote control. It has an in-built spreader for connection to the load and forklift skid for easy transport. This is the unit used on large construction infrastructure projects, ports and data centre projects around the world, including in the UK, Middle East, Oceania and throughout Asia.
The ARM1500-50 can control the load autonomously in windy conditions and allows the operator to rotate the load from a safe distance, all without taglines. It is capable of 24 x 7 operation and is built tough for the marine environment.
About the BA-350E Electric Spreader:
The BA-350E is a fully automatic, remote-controlled spreader designed for ISO containers of various sizes—typically 20ft and 40ft, but also available in 10ft or 45ft. Its twistlocks can only be opened or closed when the safety pins are properly engaged, with visual confirmation provided by LED indicators. This guarantees secure handling at every stage of the lift.
Being fully electric, the BA-350E eliminates the need for hydraulics, making it more sustainable, easier to maintain, and quicker to service. Its modular construction allows for straightforward repairs, while high-quality components and reinforced corners ensure long-term durability.
