Northern Islands Stevedoring Company Port (NISCOL) in Vanuatu has taken delivery of a BA-008 (20 foot, 36 tonne) double beam container spreader from Tec Container Asia Pacific. The container spreader arrived safely at the port of Luganville in Vanuatu a few weeks ago.
After researching a number of companies, NISCOL settled on Tec Container Asia Pacific as the preferred supplier of container spreaders. Mr Phillip Ryan, the CEO of NISCOL, was impressed with the construction and the after sales service of Tec Container and said: “I looked at a number of manufacturers in South East Asia and USA, but opted for Tec Container Asia Pacific. The container spreader has impressed me with a simple and easy-to-use design.”
The Government of Vanuatu has taken the vision to promote Luganville as the focal point for transhipment in the Pacific. The upgrade and construction of a 380-metre wharf and the construction of the container terminal places Luganville in the forefront of increased throughput. The port now has the capacity to accommodate 38 reefers at any time. The wharf construction will allow smaller bulk carriers and liner traders alongside at the same time. NISCOL has increased the capacity and capability to efficiently handle 20 foot containers by the introduction of Tec fit for purpose equipment. Mr Ryan commented that increasing its capability to service an expected increase of TEU through the port is underpinned by the addition of new equipment.
